The Pi Kappa Phi contingent put their mouths to work during the 2018 Big Man on Campus talent competition – literally.
A group of four fraternity members – Nathan Grabner, Davis Hensley, Jake Schomer and Drew Sickman – and one sorority member – Paige Fields of Delta Zeta – tried to see how many hot dogs they could gorge upon in two minutes.
Funnyman and referee Sam Ragsdale, the emcee for the event, addressed the crowd of thousands assembled in the Elliott Hall of Music on Friday, Feb. 23. He was accompanied by five scorekeepers who kept track of how many dogs contestants ate while “Eye of the Tiger” blared in Elliott.
Hensley won the individual crown as he was able scarf down 10 in 120 seconds. Overall the five-person team ate 33 hot dogs, well off any Guinness World Record.
The annual BMOC event is sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. On Feb. 22, it featured 24 acts and raised more than $100,000 for breast cancer education and awareness.
