On April 25, chapter members presented two local non-profit organizations checks to support their programming through Circle of Giving Grants for 2024.
Each year, in partnership with The Ability Experience, Pi Kappa Phi’s national service project assisting people with disabilities donates a portion of funds raised to local agencies. In 2023, the chapter collected $12,174 through community and campus fund-raisers.
Accordingly, the chapter members presented two checks for $1,375 each to a pair of local agencies it partners throughout the year – Life Has No Boundaries and the Arc of Tippecanoe.
The first of the two is a local non-profit that provides care during the day for young adults with various physical, developmental and emotional challenges. Each week, the chapter send members to their daytime activities as well as with various community outings. They assist with socialization and life skills.
With the Arc, Pi Kappa Phi assists the local chapter of a national non-profit through various events including Arctoberfest, a Halloween-themed costume party and a Second Chance Prom each spring. Oftentimes the fraternity partners with Best Buddies-Purdue, a campus service organization, to sponsor events including the April 25 end-of-the academic school year event at Purdue’s T-Rec, an indoor soccer and football complex on campus.
“We are so blessed to be able to support these needy organizations and present these checks,” said Joe Barbera, chapter Ability Experience chairman. “Both organizations mean a lot to me personally and to the chapter members, too. We love assisting with their programming and we are proud to support them financially with our Circle of Giving grants.”
Thus far in 2024, Pi Kappa Phi has raised $18,661 for people with disabilities alongside The Ability Experience. You can support the chapter’s fund-raising efforts by giving at:
