Tri Delts won the first event of the annual Pi Kappa Phi War of Roses competition that will span a two-week period.
Delta Delta Delta won the Feb. 19 dodgeball competition with a come-from-behind 3-2 win in the best of five series championship round over Shoemaker Cooperative. An overflow crowd of spectators watched as Pi Kappa Phi coaches Sonny Ferrantella and Rohit Naidu offered their advice and support.
Shoemaker won three rounds to get to the championship of the 12-team competition. They were coached by Nathan Impellizzeri and Conner Macgray.
Alpha Xi Delta, coached by Justin Segrest and Turner Johnson, and Alpha Gamma Delta, coached by Brendan Egan and Alex Younkers, tied for third place.
Pi Kappa Phi and The Ability Experience would like to thank:
Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Maclure, Phi Mu, Phi Rho, Shoemaker and Sigma Kappa.
Other events in this year’s War of Roses include the Feb. 21 Best Buddies Game Night, the Feb. 23 Trivia Competition and the Feb. 25 Talent Show in Loeb Playhouse, which completes the annual event. Teams may also earn points toward the overall championship through sheet signs along with ticket and t-shirt sales. The winning organization’s main contestant will be crowned Rose Queen and her photo will be on the chapter’s composite next school year.
The Ability Experience, Pi Kappa Phi’s national service project working with people with disabilities locally and nationally, is the beneficiary of the event.
