As day turned into evening on Friday, the 13th Annual David Feltner 72-Hour Memorial Bike-a-Thon neared its final half day of riding at the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity house.
During the cycling event that honors the late brother Feltner, nearly $6,000 has been raised to assist people with disabilities nationally and locally alongside The Ability Experience.
During the end of daylight, fraternity members played in an all-member basketball tournament adjacent to the cycling area.
There was a tremendous turnout and lots of fun was had.
Evan Austin, a development officer for The Ability Experience, visited the chapter and rode one of three stationary cycles. Austin is a three-time Paralympic Swimmer for Team USA. He competed in the London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. In Tokyo, he was team captain and was a Gold and Bronze Medalist.
Furthermore, the Purdue associate dean of fraternity, sorority and cooperative life Brandon Cutler was at the event, too.
Alumni coming to town to attend the 3:30 p.m., Purdue vs. Illinois homecoming game should stop by the house and be there when the 72-hour cycling event ends.
