Alpha Chi Omega took the 8-team, dodgeball crown for the opening events of the 2019 Pi Kappa Phi War of Roses.
Tri Delts were the runners up and Phi Mu finished third in the two-hour event held on Feb. 16 at the Purdue Recreational Sports Facility.
The dodgeball tournament was the first of three major events that comprise the War of Roses. Other major events will include a Feb. 23 empathy dinner and a Feb. 27 Talent Show.
The Feb. 16 dodgeball tournament was a best-of-three series between two competing sororities in double-elimination format. In the championship round, Alpha Chi Omega had to win twice to earn the crown. In both sets, the two teams got to the third and tie-breaking match.
“The extreme dodgeball tournament was an opportunity to create more competition between sororities during our annual War of Roses event,” said Alex Tunney, Pi Kappa Phi’s Ability Experience chairman. “While girls were on the court slinging dodgeballs, brothers were standing by to cheer them on. Everyone involved had a great time!”
In addition to the Top 3 finishers, other registered participants included: Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, and Zeta Tau Alpha.
Pi Kappa Phi wants to thank each participating group for their support of the Ability Experience and helping people with disabilities.
