Elle Stone was crowned as the 2025 Rose Queen on Thursday night in front of an audience of 500 that set all-time chapter fund-raising records.
Thursday’s talent show was the capstone of a six-day long series of events as part of the Pi Kappa Phi War of the Roses, which raises awareness and money for people with disabilities. Fifteen organizations – 14 sororities and 1 women’s cooperative – participated in sheet sign, dodgeball, fund-raising, trivia, board games, second chance prom attendance, t-shirt sales, and talent show ticket sales competitions. The overall winner, Elle Stone of Alpha Phi, took the crown and raised more than $5,500 herself for the Ability Experience, Pi Kappa Phi’s national outreach assisting people with disabilities locally and nationally.
Two special needs partners were part of the talent show – Tommy Sondgerath’s singing and Makayla Cornell in a dance show. During Makayla’s dance routine, she was joined on the stage first by Pi Kappa Phi chapter members in attendance, then by all the queen contestants and finally by others with special needs in the audience. That final routine received an extended standing ovation as is showcased what Pi Kappa Phi does with and for people with disabilities.
The chapter overall, raised a record $33,500 with donations and t-shirt sales continuing.
