A geographically diverse 29-member fall class was added to the Pi Kappa Phi ranks on Sept. 9.
The groups come from nine different states with nearly half coming from Indiana. Other states represented in the group include California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and Texas.
Not surprisingly, most are majoring in engineering. Other majors include: science, polytechnic, management, liberal arts and exploratory studies.
Three members of the group are presidential scholars, one is a valedictorian or salutation and one is a national merit finalist. A total of 19, who come from schools that rank, indicated they ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school classes.
Nineteen of the group have participated in community service activities with one amassing 150 hours prior to high school graduation – that individual is one of the presidential scholars and captain of his high school swim team. Another 11 guys in the fall class were also captains of athletic teams in high school and one founded an engineering/aerospace club.
The group also has four Pi Kappa Phi legacies.
