Fraternity members, alongside representatives from the Purdue University Dance Marathon, co-hosted a Pie a Pi Kapp fundraising event near the Purdue belltower on April 12, remembered the legacy of David Feltner.
For all afternoon that day, chapter members got “pied” with concoctions of whipped cream, various syrups and even condiments for $3 for the first piece of the mix and $1 after that. The pie event proceeds went to The Ability Experience, while PUDM accepted cash donations in memory of Felter, a Pi Kappa Phi undergraduate who died in 2011 from a rare form of childhood cancer.
More than $300 was raised for the national philanthropy and a portion of that will support the chapter’s PUDM team in the fall, too.

While the pie event was occurring chapter members rode at least one stationary bikes. The chapter holds an annual 72-hour cycling event in Feltner’s memory each fall that benefits the Ability Experience as well. Plus, Feltner hoped to have ridden in the Journey of Hope, a national fraternity cross-country cycling event each summer. However, he died before was able to do so.
