Sigma Kappa won the first of a series of events on Saturday, during the Pi Kappa Phi War or Roses competition.
Sigma Kappa beat Gamma Phi Beta in the final eight team double-elimination bracket held at the Recreation Sports Center on the Purdue campus. Tri Delts, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi. Alpha Phi Omega, and Gamma Delta were among the final eight teams.
Joining them were Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, Alpha Xi Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha and Pi Beta Phi in the dodgeball tournament.
Events for War of Roses will also include a special needs game night and trivia competition. The two-week competition will conclude with the Feb. 15 talent show in Fowler Hall of Stewart Center. Other things that go into crowing the Rose Queen from the winning sorority will include sheet signs, fund-raising and ticket sales to the talent show.
Pi Kappa Phi would like to thank all the participating sororities for assisting its efforts raising funds and awareness for people with disabilities alongside The Ability Experience, the national service project of the national fraternity.
