As day turned to night, the chapter raised a record number of money in the first 14 hours of its annual bike-a-thon.
As the clock hit midnight on Wednesday, the combination of Venmo, online, cash and Zelle donations have raised $3,432. That gets Pi Kappa Phi more than 40 percent of the way toward the chapter’s $8,000 goal for the 14th Annual David Feltner Memorial Bike-a-Thon being held at the belltower at the center of the Purdue University campus.
The three-day event will conclude at 10 a.m. on Saturday, two hours before the noon Purdue vs. Nebraska homecoming football game.
Three bikes and at least two table volunteers will be at the site continuously for the fund-raiser for The Ability Experience, which assists people with disabilities. Through the first 14 hours on Wednesday, more than 70 hours have already been amassed. All the cycling and table hour schedule has been filled, but all are welcome to stop by to support the chapter’s effort to get to $30,000 fund-raising this calendar year.
