One day into the 14th Annual David Feltner 72-Hour Memorial Bike-a-Thon set record numbers.
Donations via cash at the site, Venmo, Zelle and on the Ability Experience website raised $4,413. And nearly 150 service hours were accumulated between table volunteers and riders of three stationary bikes during the first 24-hour period.
The annual ride in memory of then undergraduate chapter member Feltner, who died in 2011 of a rare form of childhood cancer, raises money and awareness of people with disabilities locally and nationally through the Ability Experience.
The event kicked off at 10 a.m., Wednesday and will run through 10 a.m. Saturday, just prior to the noon homecoming football kickoff on the Purdue campus.
The chapter is now at more than 50 percent of its $8,000 goal that could bring the to-date 2024 fund-raising of $30,000.
Thank you to all who have donated, stopped by the belltower cycling site and supported the Pi Kappa Phi along the way. You are the best.
