More than $2,500 has been raised in little more than a day in the 13th Annual David Feltner 72-Hour Memorial Bike-a-Thon at Pi Kappa Phi.
After a short period of rain after the 1 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday, the weather has been cooperative to pleasant well into the second day of the three-day event. Fraternity members, alumni and guests are riding up to three stationary bikes in the chapter parking lot to benefit people with disabilities alongside the national program, The Ability Experience.
The bike-a-thon is named in memory of an undergraduate member Feltner who died in 2011 from a rare form of soft tissue cancer. Feltner was a key chapter member assisting The Ability Experience programming and volunteering as a student.
The event will end at 1 p.m., Saturday, prior to the 3:30 p.m. homecoming football game vs. Illinois.
