On a day that stated cold and windy (47 degrees and 30 mph winds) and ended in a similar fashion (42 degrees), a fund-raising record was set – more than $11,000 was raised for people with disabilities – during the 15th Annual David Feltner 72-Hour Memorial Bike-a-Thon.
Each year, fraternity members honor Feltner, who died in 2011 of a rare form of cancer, by raising money and awareness of people with disabilities. The three-day event held at the Purdue bell tower started at 11 a.m., Wednesday will continue until an hour before kickoff of the Purdue vs. Rutgers homecoming football game on Saturday.
Money raised benefits The Ability Experience, the national fraternity’s outreach program.
Riders use three stationary bikes and agree to fund-raise along the way. We had one parent give $2,500, which was matched by their employer on Wednesday. Other gifts, which are equally appreciated, brought our 13-hour total to the $11,000 mark – the most ever during the first day of the event. Our 2025 to-date fund-raising exceeds $47,000, the most ever by the chapter.

On Thursday, we will host Life Has No Boundaries at the bell tower from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Then from 1 to 3 p.m., Pie a Pi Kapp for charity will occur at the site as well.
Thank you to all our donors thus far and welcome to our new ones on Thursday!
