Nearly each day of the school year, members of Pi Kappa Phi assist a special needs group with socialization through outings, classroom activities and support.
Over a two-day period this week, the chapter sent more than a dozen volunteers to two different municipal parks in the area. For more than an hour each time, members played on outdoor park equipment, sat with them during lunch and shared good times.
Pi Kappa Phi partners with Life Has No Boundaries, a local non-profit that coordinates day activities for adults with disabilities. By participating in this outreach effort, fraternity members bring the mission of The Ability Experience to the local community.
Pi Kappa Phi raises money and awareness for people with disabilities through programming and volunteerism. The next fund-raising event will be the Oct. 22-25 during the 15th Annual David Feltner Memorial Bike-a-Thon at the Purdue belltower.
